As I know some may have heard, I had drill this weekend and found I had a tank of my own. But what I didn’t post is I got the answer to my question about my retirement. It turns out that as of November of last year I have 19 years in the Army. So I can retire out of the Army when my current enlistment ends this December. But here is my problem. A part of me doesn’t want to retire. My next rank is dangling right in front of me. All I have to do is pass my APFT and clear my medical hold. All of which I would be doing anyways, but I need to extend my time for at least another year. Additionally and as usual I feel a responsibility to the Army, my unit and my crew. So whether I had the promotion or not, I would still be thinking about this. The other side is 20 years is a long fucking time. Actually 24 years sense I signed my contract. So, I have done my part for god and country. My body isn’t what it used to be as well. Don’t get me wrong, for being out of shape I’m in pretty good shape and I’m planning to get in better shape regardless to what I choose. But my joints aren’t what they use to be. I can move like I’m in my 20’s for a while and jump up and down the tank no problem, but usually right after my joints starts complaining and that is not fun. Additionally a lot of people are leaving the unit. Though I have gone through this several times in my career, being that it is happening right at this time adds to my decision. If I retire I’ll have time to do things that I normally wouldn’t be able to do because it happened to fall on a duty date. So when I retire, conventions, work, school, even just being there to help out a friend will be freed up a little because I don’t have to work around the Guard. And finally, I won’t have to worry about getting deployed. But the way things are going, I’m probably not going to have to worry about that any ways. It’s just a lot to think about. I tried talking to a few people about this. Some successfully, some not, but I’m still at this impasse. So now I post it here, though truthfully I don’t expect a big turnout. I hope the few out there who care enough to keep track of me will at least take a glance at this and hopefully give me a reply.

Quote reblogged from Natasha Leggero: Let's Get Glamorous! with 61 notes
The Occupy movement does have a central idea- that our financial system has been warped to serve the interests of privileged few at the expense of everyone else. The one percent who control much of the nations wealth have rigged the game, using campaign contributions to buy tax loopholes and relaxed regulation from Washington, and awarding themselves monstrous bonuses while laying off vast armies of the middle class.”
